As Chief of Party (COP) for the Education Cannot Wait (ECW) Multi-Year Resilience Programme (MYRP), you will lead program implementation, ensuring technical excellence, collaboration with government and local partners, and alignment with donor requirements. You will oversee the $14.7 million budget, manage consortium partners, and provide technical and operational leadership to deliver high-quality education outcomes in emergency and crisis settings.
This role demands a dynamic leader skilled in coordination, technical oversight, and stakeholder engagement to create impactful educational opportunities in one of the world’s most challenging contexts.
Key Responsibilities Programme Leadership- Lead integrated planning and implementation across consortium partners, avoiding duplication and ensuring quality outcomes.
- Coordinate annual work plans, review partner strategies, and develop innovative solutions to meet program goals.
- Ensure adaptive learning by incorporating evidence-based approaches and sharing lessons learned.
- Oversee all program activities, ensuring timely delivery, quality, and adherence to the approved plans.
- Monitor consortium partners’ performance and provide support for consistent implementation standards.
- Organize joint review meetings to drive alignment and inform decision-making.
- Manage the program’s $14.7 million budget, ensuring compliance with donor and organizational financial guidelines.
- Lead monthly budget reviews to address variances and mitigate risks.
- Ensure timely and accurate financial and narrative reporting to the donor and stakeholders.
- Serve as the operational link between the field and capital levels for reporting, monitoring, and coordination.
- Represent the consortium in relevant forums, including government, donor, and education clusters.
- Facilitate collaboration with key stakeholders to align with national and regional education strategies.
- Strengthen the capacity of partners and stakeholders through training, technical support, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
- Advocate for improved education practices based on program evidence and global standards.
- Postgraduate degree in education planning, management, or related fields with additional training in project planning and management.
Essential:
- Minimum 8 years of senior-level experience managing large-scale education programs in complex environments.
- Proven ability to manage high-value donor-funded projects with expertise in planning, monitoring, and reporting.
- Strong leadership, coordination, and stakeholder engagement skills, preferably in the Horn of Africa region.
- Experience working with local governments, capacity-building systems, and leading diverse teams.
- Advanced financial management skills and experience handling multi-million-dollar budgets.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills. Fluency in English is required.
Desirable:
- Familiarity with ECW guidelines and donors like ECHO.
- Experience in cluster coordination and working in education in emergencies (EiE).
- Understanding of the cultural and operational context in Sudan or the Horn of Africa.
